The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan, so we’re committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track and analyze glucose levels.

As a Procurement Specialist- Direct Procurement, you will be an Individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in the sourcing of direct materials. The role will evaluate current and future supply base and make sure to secure adequate volumes at competitive pricing. Assess variety of supplier’s products to ensure they that they comply with specifications and meet the organization’s quality standards. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.

What You’ll Do

  • Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects.

  • Adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.

  • Responsible for purchasing the services and supplies necessary for the organization’s operations.

  • Activities include sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers and vendors, negotiating supply contracts, and monitoring the quality and timeliness of materials and services supplied.

  • Drive global operational consistency of the Category across Abbott Diabetes Care.

  • Working closely with business stakeholders in Corporate and Divisional functions to enable business continuity, including driving implementation plans.

  • Nurturing stakeholder relationships by serving as a strong business partner, helping to identify business critical needs and requirements while providing operational support that meets immediate and long-term demands.

  • Being a strategic representative of Abbott, across disciplines, industry and within the community

  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity for business process improvement.

  • Providing insights to business units on how to optimize and refine Abbott and Supplier processes to improve effectiveness.

  • Being a primary point of contact for the components that are being sourced under this category.

  • Responsible for prioritizing planned and unplanned demand, globally, across the category.

  • Drives cost impacts, whether savings, or revenue generation by meeting expansion goals and growth goals.

  • Monitoring global market dynamics and anticipate business critical actions that may be required for business continuity.

  • Being a key relationship manager with category suppliers, driving risk management, and enhanced development of a flexible agile supply base

  • will identify, research, evaluate and suppliers that meet the organization’s standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.

  • Requires high degree of skills and independence in negotiation activities.

  • Typically involved in large and/or more complex purchases and suppliers that have higher impact on the organization’s products, processes, and budget.

  • May coach and provide instruction to lower-level staff.

Experience You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or Science

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience

  • Proficiency in PC applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations)

  • Strong communication, persuasion, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

The base pay for this position is $83,600.00 – $167,200.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
