Sutter Health Lead Service Technician / Public Safety Officer (Per Diem) in Auburn, California
Provides functional guidance to staff and new hires. Monitors status of assigned areas.Maintains a clean, attractive and safe environment by performing appropriate cleaning duties. Performs patient transportation and or lift services. May transport monitored telemetry patients if the BCM class is taken and passed and the required training provided by Nursing education is completed. Assists nursing with dressing changes and transports deceased patients to the morgue. Performs general security work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of Sutter Health and applicable federal, state, and local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents.
Completes special assignments, as requested, performance evaluated in terms of accuracy, completion by
due date, adherence to instructions and cooperation. Effectively uses time to department's and organization's
best advantage (i.e. filling in with additional projects, monitoring CCTV systems, manning entry portals,
patrolling parking lots or parking booth, etc).
Demonstrates sound judgment in identifying authorized and/or unauthorized persons through escorting
procedures, by courteously questioning said persons and/or by detaining all unauthorized persons, if
Performs functions of Distribution Tech when not on patient call, including: labeling, unpacking supplies,
delivering supplies and linen as needed.
Thoroughly investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by personnel, visitors, physicians and/or
patients. Reviews daily Pass-Down Log at the start of each worked shift and completes entries accurately.
Thoroughly performs interior/exterior building and ground patrols, including parking lot, to prevent fire, theft,
misuse and vandalism of personal and company property by providing a visible deterrence to crime and
prohibited activities. Secures and unlocks all hospital doors, entrances and portals at specified facility lock
down and unlock times.
Trains, monitors, schedules and organizes the following activities: Cleaning (walls, floors, windows, carpet,
tile, etc.). Removal, transport and disposal of regular, biohazard, sharps, chemotherapy and other waste
products. Preparation of linen for use and placement on patient care equipment, removal and proper
containment of soiled line, removal of damage linen and transport of linen. Arrangement of various
conference and meeting room furniture and support equipment. Maintenance of a variety of
manual/battery/electrical housekeeping equipment.
Transport and Lift Services: May connect patient to EKG monitor if the patient requires constant EKG
monitoring, reviews and interprets basic EKG strips, and notifies RN in case of arrhythmias, changes,
artifacts, and/or complications. Accompanies a nursing staff member to the morgue with deceased patients
and ensures that they are correctly logged into the morgue by nursing, acting as a witness after nursing signs
them into the morgue book.
Uses safe body mechanics and moving techniques, including warm-up exercises. Uses appropriate safety
equipment for transfer/lift/ambulation. Works as a team to ensure a safe move.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS-C or Greater Sacramento Region Healthcare CPR certification. Management Assault Behavior class and Propietary Security Officer certification card is required within 90 days of hire. Annual certification class for PSO certification required. BCM certification not required at Sutter Auburn Faith.
Prior experience in a patient care setting. Security background and/or healthcare environment preferred. Management skills and/or supervisor experience preferred. Prior experience as an EVS technician and/or patient escort in a healthcare setting is required. Leadership experience is preferred.
Must have knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, and safe operation of a Variety of lifting, moving, and transporting equipment. If BCM certified must be able to interpret rhythm strips accurately. Knowledge of healthcare equipment and cleaning chemicals is required. Physical and emotional maturity required for the high degree of judgment and diplomacy necessary to work efficiently in a healthcare environment.
Ability to handle and maintain stressful situations in a calm manner. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to handle multiple requests and prioritize. Monitor tech transporters must be able to recognize and interpret EKG strips and respond appropriately if there is a problem. Lift team must be able to assist with bariatric patient dressing changes that can require them to hold a patient in the same position for over one hour.
