Job Summary

The Faculty Member will perform collaborative academic and research activities at the Department of Population Medicine of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute and Harvard Medical School. S/he will develop teaching curricula, programs, and materials for Harvard Medical School courses and will teach in these courses. The Faculty Member will also be involved in academic-related research or research pertaining to population health and/or health policy. This is a faculty position appointed through Harvard Medical School.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

  • Teaches in DPM/Harvard Medical School courses and may develop curricula and teaching materials.

  • Assists with evaluation and improvement of Harvard Medical School courses, including assessment of teaching quality and course content.

  • Designs and participates in faculty development programs for tutors and instructors in Harvard Medical School courses.

  • Seeks out funding opportunities and prepares proposals for teaching/research funding.

  • Participates in and may lead academic research activities related to population health and/or health policy

  • Works with DPM technical staff to manage database design and development for teaching/research studies, as applicable.

  • Oversees data collection and works with DPM statisticians and technical staff to develop plans for data analysis, as applicable.

  • Writes reports detailing teaching/research progress and findings as needed for funding agencies.

  • Prepares manuscripts detailing teaching/research findings and submits to peer-reviewed medical journals for publication.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

  • Doctoral Degree such as an MD, PhD, PharmD. Postdoctoral fellowship and experience conducting teaching/research in an academic or health care setting are preferred.

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Education, or related topic is desirable.

  • Record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals is preferred.

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of academic and health care systems and familiarity with current issues in public health.
