We’re currently looking for a Health & SafetyManager to join on our Weetabix contract based in Burton Latimer.

The role is responsible for health, safety and environmental policies aligned to the warehouse operation. The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for promoting a culture of health and safety within the Burton Latimer and Corby sites, and the wider XPO business.

We’re looking to offer a salary up to £48,000 depending upon experience. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. Here’s what you’ll get up to:

  • Take ownership and accountability of health, safety and environmental policies, KPI’S and reporting of such

  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry ensuring compliance to ensure Quality and ISO policies and procedures are adhered to and maintained

  • Communicate XPO Logistics QHSE policy and strategy and to raise awareness of QHSE legislation/issues by periodic attendance on site QHSE forums

  • Work closely with the customer to ensure QHSE policy and strategy are aligned

  • Manage all prework required for internal and external H&S Audits plus coordinating with auditor and identifying a subsequent action plan

  • Raise and manage annual H&S Action Plan

  • Raise and manage on site H&S training plan and Trainers, to ensure all staff are updated where relevant on changes within the discipline

  • Identify and agree the objectives to be achieved for HS&E and ensure that these are communicated and regularly reviewed

  • Ensure that all Contract management are informed of their responsibilities and to advise and support colleagues accordingly through effective communications, policies and audits

  • Ensure that suitable and sufficient training is provided and maintained for the Contract to manage QHSE issues on a day-to-day basis

  • Management of the on-site risk assessment process and co-ordination of the Contract SOP’s

  • Management of the Contract accident and near miss reporting and investigation procedure, ensuring managers and leaders are appropriately trained and implementing the required procedures and standards to retain legislative compliance

  • Carry out incident trend analysis and monitor and report statistics with a clear view to plan and improve standards on the Contract

  • Ensure all monitoring systems are fully updated

  • Provide support and advice to the team when required to ensure accident investigations are completed thoroughly, timely and accurately.

  • Management and maintenance of the site environmental management system.

  • Formulate action plans/improvements for health and safety across the Contract.

  • Promotion of the Behavioural Safety Guidelines and B-Safe.

  • Role is primarily the sites and the operation but this will require liaison with the central QSHE team and reporting lines are dual ie to the site manager and central QHSE team

  • Provide on-site liaison with enforcing authorities as required.

  • Work closely with Company solicitors with respect to claims and litigations.

  • Provide flexibility and co-operation in covering duties of a related nature not specifically referred to in the job description that may enhance the service provided to the customer

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health

  • Competent IT skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Operational / Managerial experience in Logistics / Transport environment

  • Demonstrate an understanding of business needs of the site

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience in delivering training/briefings to colleagues

  • Audit qualification desirable
