UCLA Health Administrative Assistant II - Calabasas Ophthalmology in Calabasas, California

Description

As an Administrative Assistant II at the Stein Eye Center Calabasas, your role will offer vital support to both providers and patients within a dynamic multi-specialty ophthalmology clinic. We seek an enthusiastic and compassionate individual, committed to delivering outstanding patient care while effectively streamlining clinic workflows. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Check-in/out patients

  • Process co-payments

  • Respond or route inbox messages

  • Obtain authorizations and referrals

  • Schedule appointments

  • Obtain and verify insurance information

Salary Range: $24.57-34.87 HourlyQualifications

Required:

  • Minimum two years' experience working in a medical office.

  • Familiarity with current patient billing practices.

  • Experience scheduling patient appointments in computerized appointment scheduling system.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills which promote pleasant and effective communication with patients, staff and doctors.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain records in a clear and orderly manner at the direction of the Office Manager.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and diseases, as it applies to the eye.

  • Sufficient computer keyboard skills to perform appointment scheduling, encountering, emailing, and other related computer tasks.

  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and to complete assignments in a timely manner.

  • Knowledge of current governmental programs to ensure reimbursement.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to multitask effectively.

  • Flexibility and adaptability given the dynamic nature of medicine and departmental needs.

Preferred:

  • Two years' experience working in a medical teaching institution.

  • Two years' experience in ophthalmology practice setting.

  • One year of experience with an electronic medical record (EMR).
