Schedule: Friday 11a-11:30p, Sat & Sun 9a-9:30p (call and holiday rotation)

The role you’ll contribute:

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Responsible for the quality and efficiency of the Ultrasound Department. Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures. Maintains records of examinations performed. Obtains and documents patient clinical information as needed. Participates in standby call. Performs basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards. Assists in radiology department as needed. Responsibility to adhere to the Gordon Hospital Corporate compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state, and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures for the purpose of detecting pathology.

  • Assures responsibilities for the patient flow and all other matters pertaining to patient care, ensures patient and employee safety.

  • Direct patient responsibility for geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patient care until the patient is returned to his/her room or until outpatient is discharged.

  • The technologist is directly involved in a variety of ultrasound procedures including biopsies, has an extensive experience with available ultrasound equipment in terms of product evaluation, troubleshooting and quality control.

  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other department and medical staff.

  • Recommends action necessary for improvement of the overall discipline and other actions regarding personnel.

  • Evaluate the service and equipment of the department according to the department policy and procedure.

  • Accepts call responsibilities in accordance with departmental policy.

  • Maintains acceptable standards of performance and responsibility according to department policy and procedures on a daily basis.

  • Maintains workstation/area and equipment in acceptable working order and cleanliness.

  • If he/she is a registered RT or cross-trained in other modalities, they will be expected to work in those modalities as needed.

  • The employee will be expected to participate in Performance Improvement projects as needed.

  • The technologist will be expected to participate in all quality control checks and follow ACR guidelines for all procedures to maintain ACR accreditation.

  • The technologist will be expected to keep up all necessary continuing educational credits and requirements as stipulated by the ACR and ARDMS.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

Must be ARDMS certified or eligible, non-licensed staff members must complete ARDMS requirements within 12 months of employment. Technologists are expected to add any incomplete registrations as noted, with at least one completed per year. Must have detailed knowledge of ultrasound physics as well as cross-sectional and vascular anatomy and Doppler techniques in order to perform independent procedures to Radiologist standards. Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval. Patient care and communication skills as needed to deal with patients from infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

  • Certification in ABD, GYN, OB and Vascular preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Must be ARDMS Registered or registry eligible. Registry eligible must become registered within 12 months of employment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Prior ultrasound experience preferred

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

  • ARDMS or registry eligible

  • BLS

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • RVT

  • ARRT
