Description

Per Diem Registered Nurse Position in the ECG Department at Putnam Hospital Center- Carmel, NY. Morning shifts 7:30am-10:00am 2-3x a week.

Summary: The Nurse’s scope of services is based upon the population served within the ECG department. The nurse monitors patients during exercise sessions and is responsible for focusing upon preventive and restorative cardiac health. Provides patient and caregiver education pertaining to risk factors and behavior modification. Maintains communication with the Cardiac Medical Director as to the patients’ current level of functioning and any changes in symptomatology. Responds quickly to emergency situations within the department.

Essential Responsibilities:

1.Monitors EKG for: inappropriate rhythm changes; resting, exercise and recovery heart rates and blood pressures; discomfort or changes in discomfort in the chest, neck, shoulder or arm; dizziness, fainting or claudication and any shortness of breath with oxygen desaturation.

2.Participates in department quality improvement data collection and reporting.

3.Complies with the assessment process by the identification and gathering of data concerning the health status of the patient.

4.Plans for patient care by determining patient problems based on patient assessment data.

5.Develops, implements and adjusts as necessary the patient’s Individual Treatment Plan.

6.Maintains all medical emergency equipment according to department/HQ system policies and procedures.

7.Responds to all medical emergencies within the department according to department/HQ system policies and procedures.

8. Maintains and Models REACH Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor).

9.Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

10.Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

·Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

·Two of more years of recent experience in critical care/cardiac care; or equivalent experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

·Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.

·Ability to adapt and navigate an electronic medical record.

License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:

·Currently licensed within the State of New York as a Registered Nurse.

·Up-to-date ACLS credentials.
