GE Vernova Production Supervisor - Shipping & Logistics in Charleroi, Pennsylvania

Job Description Summary

The Logistics and Shipping Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and leading all activities required for shipment and delivery of both Circuit Breakers and Instrument Transformers produced at the Charleroi factory. This position will be responsible for owning and leading SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) for the shipping department. This position will manage/coordinate the daily activities for logistics and shipping teams on multiple shifts to help meet all customer shipping requirements and business targets and goals related to on-time delivery, Sales, and cost.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing/logistic employees.

  • Responsible for meeting production schedules, standards, and profitability.

  • Responsibility for daily and monthly production KPI reports.

  • Demonstrated success in developing/implementing continuous improvement initiatives and accountability programs; demonstrated success assessing, developing and retaining top talent; proven ability to drive process improvements, Kaizens, adhere to budgets, and maintain regulatory compliance; proven ability to lead: critical thinking, continuous cost focus, technical expertise, influence and delivery of sustainable results.

  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and oversees workflow.

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Responsible for the cost-effective use of human resources in the production process. Including the cost-effective use of overtime.

  • Ensure compliance with professional standards such as occupational health and safety and customer requirements

  • Ensures the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between and within the department.

  • Ensures that all shop problems are properly documented and corrected via EAR’s, QCR’s or some other process.

  • Responsible for documenting processes for ISO9001 and ensuring that these processes are followed

  • Manage logistics team members and supports coordinating with carriers, freight forwarders, project management, sourcing, manufacturing and/or engineering for processing documentation in preparation of shipments.

  • Oversees outbound logistics team members and supports scheduling of outgoing shipments (Full Truckload, Less than Truckload, Full container load and Parcel)

  • Oversees logistics team to obtain least cost to support transportation and/or packaging for export goods.

  • Proactively reviews daily shipping log to insure all items shipped as scheduled along with monitoring and closing of backorders.

  • Assures all freight-related system (MRP) transaction occur on a timely basis.

  • Manage SAP/Inventory transactions

  • Inspecting products for quality and accuracy prior to shipping

  • Follow compliance for international and domestic laws and regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a comparable discipline and a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in a manufacturing environment (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing)

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a supervisory role

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel.

  • Ability to learn other application software essential to performing job tasks.
