Job Overview

The Clinical Education Specialist job description is in alignment with the Association of Nurses in Professional Development (ANPD). ANPD is the practice and thought leader for nursing professional development and the specialty practice organization upon which education specialists base their professional activities. ANPD has identified six core standards of practice on which this job description was heavily influenced: competency management, education, role development, orientation/onboarding, research/EBP/QI, and collaborative partnerships.

Department: CSH NICU Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week. Shift: Monday through Friday, hours varied to meet both day shift and night shift educational needs.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent with post-master's certification in education Experience: 5 years of clinical pediatric experience. NICU experience strongly preferred. Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire, American Nurses Credentialing Center(ANCC) or Magnet approved certification. Licensure(s): Current Colorado RN License Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program or (NRP)

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE * Neonate - 30 days to 1yr * Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs * Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs * School age - >5yrs to 13yrs * Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs * Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. Designs, coordinates, facilitates, onboarding and orientation programs for licensed and unlicensed team members. 2. Evaluates orientation and onboarding experiences to ensure newly hired team members are prepared to practice safely and independently. 3. Mentors, develops, and evaluates preceptors to enhance learning experiences for all new hires. 4. Collaborative Partnerships: Demonstrates knowledge of effective communication principles and promotes communication among disciplines. 5. Responds to diversity by recognizing, assessing, and adapting the nature of working relationships with other professionals and populations. Identifies and mitigates deterrents to collaboration. 6. Participates in shared decision making, effective team work, and recognition of team and individual contributions.
