Amazon Software Development Engineer - Prime Video, Partner Licensing Technology in Culver City, California

Description

The Partner Licensing Technology org owns several verticals, including PV Slate Title Hub, Content Partner APIs, Content Rights, Content Acquisition, and Contract Management. We support virtually all of Amazon's content-oriented businesses. We build and operate high-performance, highly-scalable applications to ensure PV titles are processed quickly and that the latest cutting edge content is made available to customers globally.

Key job responsibilities

Would you like to build cutting edge software and make a big customer impact by helping Prime Video continue to scale globally?

We are looking for experienced engineers to help us create dynamic technology solutions to deliver the latest blockbuster movies and cutting edge TV shows to millions of users around the world. Our team develops modern, robust, scalable software so that top Hollywood movie studios and film producers can deliver, publish, distribute, and get paid for their streams - now in over 250 countries and territories worldwide.

At Prime Video, we ship large-scale, high-throughput, customer-facing products and services; build cutting-edge experiences for smart phones, tablets, game consoles, and smart TVs; craft personalization algorithms to present the right videos to the right customer at the right time; and develop systems for large-scale video encoding and delivery. Every day we embrace the challenges of a fast-paced market and evolving technologies, paving the way to universal availability of content and pushing the envelope of streaming video quality.

For this position, you should have a strong background in object-oriented programming and design using Java, C++, or C#. Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, SNS, and SQS is also desired (but not required).

A day in the life

  • Design new services and products

  • Review designs by other engineers

  • Build new backend services

  • Optimize backend services for performance

  • Update frontend tools and interfaces for use by Hollywood movie studios, post production houses, and content operators

  • Troubleshoot complex system and supply chain issues

  • Learn new design and optimization techniques through knowledge sharing sessions, developer book club, and more

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
