Collins Aerospace, Fairfield, is seeking an applicant for the position of Test Technician I, reporting to the Test Operations Supervisor. This position performs destructive and non-destructive testing on energetic devices while capturing qualitative data to ensure the devices meet customers specifications. This position is an entry level position as a test technician and is expected to learn and perform under the guidance of more experience test technicians to perform various tasks.

Compensation:

  • 22.75 per hour starting rate*

    Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 7 am-3:30 pm

  • Overtime available and/or mandatory on a business need basis

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Testing Set-up, performance, and evaluation under the guidance of a senior technician.

  • Product performance measurement and data collections.

  • Equipment Preventative maintenance and calibration.

  • Testing Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Occasionally support failure investigations and developmental testing.

  • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

  • Typically requires an HS Diploma or GED. In the absence of an HS diploma or GED, two years of relevant experience is typically required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ordnance products and/or test instrumentation/electronics.

  • Ability to read, understand, and correct/ redline testing procedures.

  • Accurately Prepare and complete data sheets. Create and use formulas in excel, perception or other instrumentation software packages.

  • Must have good mechanical skills and have working knowledge of hand tools and measurement devices e.g., Calipers, micrometers, depth gages and additional test equipment e.g , Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters.

  • Have knowledge of electronics and instrumentation, how to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

*The salary range for this role is $22.03 to $29.80, however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills
