Your Opportunity

Join a Top 10 global design firm in our buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services where great ideas and rewarding careers are built. Exercising creativity and ingenuity, our team develops unique solutions for our clients that integrate people, materials, equipment and information in productive ways. We are seeking a Project Manager to support a variety of key projects.

The successful candidate will be leading clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, award-winning designs. You will be working with clients, design and construction team members, program and project management processes, and strong project leaders.

You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop projects schedules, and manage projects, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required under instruction from the Principal in Charge.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex tasks on multiple, large scope, highly complex projects.

  • Effectively participates in the project pursuit process and helps to win work in interviews for potential projects.

  • Support growth by continuing to build a team with deep expertise and project management and design management talent to effectively manage scope, schedule, budget and client relationships

  • Internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, recruitment and retention

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.

  • Assures that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.

  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.

  • Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.

  • Manage multi-disciplinary design teams and sub-consultants in various locations for complex retail and industrial projects with various project delivery methods to ensure:

  • Projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope

  • Designs are coordinated and meet project requirements

  • Manage all stages of consultant projects including pre-design phase (master planning, feasibility studies, functional programming, schematic design), design development, construction documents, tendering/bidding, services during construction, commissioning and project close-out

  • Understand and manage complex stakeholder requirements with internal and external partners

  • Liaise with clients to maintain existing and build new client relationships

  • Identify and manage project risks

  • Understand and assist in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project

  • Review and approve all invoices and change orders associated with the project

  • Evaluate, advise on and assist in resolving disputes and claims

  • Reports to the Retail | Industrial Studio Lead

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience managing and motivating integrated, multi-discipline design teams in multiple locations for delivery of small, simple and large, complex projects, including traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternate Project Delivery such as Design-Build, and Integrated Project Delivery

  • Experience using project management and collaborative tools for effectively delivering projects

  • Knowledge of commercial development and contractual issues

  • Understanding of effective management of scope, schedule and quality of projects

  • Highly effective interpersonal communication and negotiation skills and people management ability with clients, staff, and colleagues

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior

  • Ability to multitask management, project management and business development

  • Proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidance.

  • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Team player with the client, entire project team and general contractor

  • Excellent communicator.

  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Newforma; Prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Education and Experience

Degree in architecture or related field & Registered Architect. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in architecture project management. Experience managing at least one design project with minimum consulting fees of $1M and five design projects with minimum consulting fees of $250K. Strong background in the Retail and Industrial sectors preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • CA Other Areas $102,000 - CA Other Areas $152,900 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
