Central Maine Medical Center Director - Care Centers in Lewiston, Maine

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Director for our Care Centers!

Position Summary:

This role focuses on providing operational and business support to Central Maine Healthcare’s Care Centers in order to achieve operational and strategic goals. The role will partner with CMH leadership in activities that support long-term strategic planning, managing financial performance, creating and executing on business plans, determining and helping to solve operational and cross-system issues and opportunities that could affect care center success, prioritizes, manages and tracks the success of initiatives across care centers.

A key component of the Director’s role will be a deep understanding of the needs and challenges facing the market and operations of the care center, and the ability to quickly assess the landscape and coordinate the appropriate internal and external resources to develop the best approach to meeting patient and practice operation’s needs. They will have a strong, highly aligned, and collaborative partnership with other director and vice president leaders of service lines and support services to develop a team and establish a best-in-class approach to the care center. This person will be accountable for leading care center strategy planning, ensuring timely and appropriate access to care, fostering operations development, and executing quality, value, and patient engagement initiatives.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitor and manage day-to-day operational performance to include supervising the work of the practice managers and individual contributors on the Director’s team.

  • Utilize data and best practice research to evaluate existing and recommend new operational policies, procedures, processes, or training based on trends and benchmarks.

  • Create and execute on business plans for growth of primary care, specialty and support services to meet market demands of care center.

  • Foster a culture of accountability using measurable outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities to build systems-based approaches to operational efficiency of all care center services and with other leaders across the organization.

  • Monitors data, evaluates themes and designs efforts to improve patient and caregiver experience.

  • Provides process-improvement oriented leadership to the practice management

  • Collaborate with Directors to develop and implement processes to operationalize the strategic plan including:

  • Targeted opportunities to improve delivery of accessible and affordable patient-centered care.

  • Methods to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration resulted in collaborative, high-quality care.

  • A long-range vision for the scope of services to be offered and venue thereof.

  • Develop and manage the budget (personnel, capital, operating expense) in partnership with care center physician leadership dyad, specialty and support service directors, and practice manager.

  • Make operational adjustments as needed to promote appropriate levels of clinician and staff productivity.

  • Proactively assess capital equipment needs and plan for the purchase and installation of these items.

  • Maximize effective and efficient utilization of space across all practices and services.

  • Function as a liaison for operations across the organization, including with medical staff and members and other staff involved in clinic operations.

  • Serve as a change agent as constantly seeks ways to improve the ways we care for our patients and staff.

  • Professionally develop and mentor teams to inspire collaboration across all primary care and specialty practices.

  • Provide thoughtful leadership for the practice management team including direction, timely feedback, professional development and ongoing performance planning. Develop improvement action plans and implement them where necessary.

  • Foster strong working relationships with other directors to facilitate effective communication and follow through on key strategic imperatives.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal savvy and relate well to all kinds of people and levels within the organization.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Master’s Degree in Business or Health Care Administration is preferred

  • 10+ years practice management experience required - preferably across multiple service lines

  • Demonstrated progressive health care leadership experience is required

  • Project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is required

  • Proven success working collaboratively with a diverse medical staff is required

  • Process improvement knowledge/experience and/or certification is required

  • Experience leading high-functioning teams is required

  • Experience developing strategic plans and implementing key components of these plans on time and within approved budgets is required

  • Experience gathering, compiling and utilizing data analytics to inform decision making is required

  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information to different audiences with varying backgrounds is required

  • Ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan work independently is required

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of employees is required

  • Excellent communication skills are required: listening, oral and written
