CARES Central PA is looking for Residential Direct Support Professionals to work in a one (1) person group home to help the individual meet their needs and live their best every day life.

As a Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Group Home, you will help the individual with cooking and cleaning, learning life skills, participating in social and recreational opportunities, ensuring their health and safety, assisting the individual in maintaining personal care, providing guidance in developing and maintaining personal and professional relationships, and assist the individual with maintaining and budgeting their money.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting laws, rules, 6500 state regulations and policies governing daily operations

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county and state officials, the individual, the individual's family, and the general public

  • Ability to plan, organize, and supervise one individual with developing activities to enhance growth

  • Knowledge of person centered planning and the ability to help individuals meet their plan of care objectives

  • Knowledge of pertinent community resources and facilities

  • Meal Preparation

  • Cleaning

  • Shopping for household items

  • Money and Budgeting

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

  • Maintaining daily documentation

  • Participating in the development of and implementing the Individual Support Plan (ISP)

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • One years experience working with people with intellectual developmental disabilities or any equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid driver's license

  • PA State Background Check

  • FBI Clearance

  • Child Abuse Clearance (if necessary)

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
