Northrop Grumman is currently seeking experienced R&D Engineering Technicians for our Core Engineering Team at our HTS facility in Magna, UT.
Job Description:
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with experience in composite structures and assemblies
Successful candidates will be considered subject matter experts and responsible for developing and implementing complex composite components and assemblies using a wide range of materials and processes
Direct the safe execution of tasks required to support research and development and production for commercial, military and classified programs, as the demand requires.
Proficient with interpretation of Engineering models / drawings
Maintain inventory (tooling, equipment, NEI material, direct material, etc.)
Material handling & preparation (storage, thawing, cutting, kitting, inventory, traceability, etc.)
Use of chemicals with proper PPE
TC weld & verify / Vacuum port assembly / Vacuum leak check
Solid lamination / Bagging / Oven & A/C cure
Sandwich panel construct / Bag / Cure (perimeter dams or tapered core)
Film adhesive and past adhesive bonding
Expert with SMI (Standard Measuring Instruments)
Machining of tight tolerance Assemblies
Willing to work unconventional shifts occasionally to complete assignments
Design and fabricate complex production aids
Execute Work Orders / Project assignments
Track team metrics and report status frequently to management
Manage / Mentor less senior Technicians to successfully complete programs
Coordinate and oversee process readiness reviews
Promote corrective actions and process improvements
Promote Cost improvement initiatives
Review procedures for accuracy and completeness
Mentor early career Technicians and Engineers
Basic Requirements:
Minimum of 16 years of related composites aerospace manufacturing experience
In depth knowledge and proficiency with composite materials and manufacturing processes
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Obtain and maintain a security clearance
Possess excellent problem solving skills as well as demonstrated experience in leadership of teams in resolving complex manufacturing issues
Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and mentor less experienced technicians
Highly regarded by management and peers for composite knowledge and expertise
Preferred Skills:
SME (Subject Matter Expert) of Composite material and manufacturing technologies (including bonded and fastened assembly methods) experience
Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex CNC controlled equipment

Salary Range: $64,700 - $107,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
