Position Overview:

Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation is a not for profit corporation that exists to provide medical services, research and education. The foundation provides the infrastructure for the delivery of physician services, and contracts with a separate corporation comprised of physicians and other care providers to deliver the clinical services. This multi-specialty foundation will provide a platform from which new physicians can be recruited to continue to provide physician services in a nonprofit, community setting. The Foundation's vision is to create a medical group that will deliver high quality, market competitive medical services.

Under minimal supervision, prepares financial statements, budgets and analyses. Analyzes revenues and expenditures, monitors budget variances and notifies appropriate personnel of all variances and their causes. Prepares high level statistical reporting. Recommends corrective action to address sub-par performance. Makes use of databases to assess performance and make recommendations. Evaluates accounting and financial systems and identifies opportunities for improvement. Evaluates existing procedures for data flow and recommends methods of reducing time and cost of operations. Monitors work performed by lower-classified personnel and acts as a resource person in the department to junior staff. In addition, the Analyst III can have lead responsibility for the research, the modeling, the analysis required for PSA (Professional Service Agreement) negotiations and new physician agreements. The Analyst III also has lead responsibility for calculation of physician bonuses, service reimbursements and producing compensation vs collection analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.

  • 6 to 9 years experience in preparing and interpreting financial reports and operational budget analysis required.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced understanding of Physician multi-specialty group metrics and parameters.

  • Advanced understanding of Principles of physician compensation and incentive methods.

  • Advanced understanding of Physician multi-specialty group financial structure.

  • Ability to apply accounting principles to perform necessary and accurate financial calculations required.

  • Advanced skills with spreadsheets (Excel) and Access required.
