Sutter Health ER Unit Clerk - Emergency Services - Short Hour Nights in Oakland, California

Position Overview:

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is San Francisco East Bay's largest private, not-for-profit medical center with a total of 1,082 licensed beds. Each of our campuses has 24-hour emergency, obstetric and medical/surgical services in both Oakland and Berkeley. The Unit Clerk provides clerical support, inputting data, answering telephones, filing, distributing mail, and assisting patients, relatives, and visitors.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience or equivalent education/experience required.

Skills & Knowledge:

Able to input data into computer with speed and accuracy. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information to patients, patient families and employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
