Rotating - 08 Hour (United States of America)

Patient Transport provides exceptional, compassionate patient care, ensuring patient comfort and safety by assisting in their movement within the hospital.

We are seeking two Patient Transport Supervisors to fulfill an essential role within our team. This is a full-time role Monday through Friday with shifts starting at 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. and will work one weekend per month and some holidays. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Allocate and manage tasks among Patient Transporters.

• Monitor productivity, provide feedback, and manage performance appraisals of Patient Transporters.

• Maintain professional relationships with staff, faculty, patients, and the public.

• Liaise with Nursing staff and other clients to match the program's services with their needs.

• Verify and ensure the proper maintenance of Patient Transport equipment like wheelchairs and gurneys.

• Coordinate work schedules of Patient Transporters.

Additional Education Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Additional Experience Qualifications

• Previous experience in leadership or supervisory roles, with a proven track record of team management and development

• Has handled budgeting responsibilities or distributed resources pertinent to operations of patient transport.

• Ability to maintain calm and make effective decisions under stress, especially during emergency scenarios.

• Knowledgeable about healthcare regulations and standards, specifically relating to patient transportation.

A Brief Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, ensures the safe and orderly transport of patients to and from locations within the medical center. Manage the day-to- day operations of the Patient Transport staff. Represent the department at meetings with clinical/patient care teams and other stakeholders of the program.

What you will do

  • Assigns specific duties and responsibilities to each Patient Transporter as necessary.

  • Conducts interviews and recommends selection of new Patient Transporters, provides initial and on-going training, counsels and recommends disciplinary action as needed.

  • Ensures adequacy and maintenance of Patient Transport equipment such as wheelchairs and gurney. Interacts in a professional and courteous manner with other medical center staff, faculty, patients and the public.

  • Investigates incidents involving Patient Transport personnel and submits report.

  • Meets with Nursing staff and other client users as necessary to ensure the program is meeting their needs. Possess the ability to react calmly under stress in emergency situations as required, as well as the ability to, interact with people in a positive and tactful manner.

  • Schedules and coordinates work activity of Patient Transporters.

  • Tracks Patient Transporter's productivity and provides appropriate feedback.

  • Writes staff performance appraisals for all Patient Transporters and Lead-Patient Transporters and ensures they meet all competencies for the job including age specific competencies.

  • This position may require on-call availability during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs and respond to emergencies as necessary. The employee may receive additional compensation if assigned as part of the Facilities Services & Planning (FS&P) Leader on Call Program.

Education Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver.

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and set objectives and outcomes.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.

  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.

  • Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $33.11 - $42.21 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
