UCLA Health Optometrist - Doheny Eye Center in Pasadena, California

This Optometrist position will provide professional optometric services at the Doheny Eye Centers clinics. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Perform optometric exams and imaging

  • Record all examination findings and recommendations

  • Provide patient education on surgery, lens options, astigmatism management, etc.

  • Code and bill for examinations

  • Review medication requests

  • Occasional writing projects such as preparing research papers, fundraising newsletters, letters to donors

This position will require travel to multiple UCLA Health locations including but not limited to Pasadena, Arcadia, and Fountain Valley.

Salary Range: $85,900-128,900 Annually

Required:

  • Possession and maintenance of an active license to practice optometry from the California Board of Optometry

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills including knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology to establish effective working relations with all levels of university staff, faculty, trainees, and patients

  • Ability to work in a cooperative and collegial fashion with other members of the Division to provide exemplary patient care

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under a variable but often very busy workload

  • Ability to function in a research environment with patients who are enrolled in clinical study protocols

  • Ability to learn new routines quickly, to follow routines consistently, and identify better ways of accomplishing routine tasks

  • Proficiency in Apple and Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word and Excel, email, calendaring programs, and web browsers

  • Demonstrated or acquired competency in office and medical center based data and electronic records systems (Kaleidoscope, Epic, PCIMS, CDS, etc.)

  • Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health sites.
