THE POSITION

Wayne County Area Agency on Aging is seeking a hard-working, reliable individual to work in our Dietary Department and make a difference in the lives of our senior community members. We strive to ensure that our consumers have a hot meal and full bellies. This is a great opportunity to utilize your knowledge of food safety and food preparation.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position involves preparing ingredients and cooking food items in bulk quantities according to menu specifications. The duties include following recipes, preparing modified diets, ordering supplies, ensuring proper food requisition and preparation, and ensuring compliance with recipes alongside the Cook II. The role also involves instructing volunteers, packaging bulk food items, maintaining food temperatures, operating kitchen equipment, cleaning dishes, maintaining sanitation standards, attending training sessions, participating in tray line activities, and performing related tasks as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in food preparation or service;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
