Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
The candidate will receive technical training relevant for the project including training to perform rodent surgeries, operant conditioning, optogenetics, and other procedures as dictated by the candidate's interests. The candidate will be responsible for lab safety and regulatory compliance and general lab maintenance activities, including ordering of lab supplies, lab organization, and rat colony maintenance.
For Scientific Assistant rank, duties above will be relevant. Expectation is this position will be more independent.
For Research Intern rank, more of the skills and techniques will be taught. Expectation is this position will have more direct supervision while learning techniques and skills.
Scientific Assistant
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Chemistry, or Bioengineering.
• Experience with sterile surgical procedures, immunohistochemistry, and/or rodent behavior.
• Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
Research Intern
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree
• One year experience in relevant research field of study

Monthly Salary:
$3,500 - $5,400 | Pay will be dependent on years of experience and technical skills.
