Sutter Health Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Sacramento, California
Provides imaging, therapeutic, and patient care services at defined levels to patients.
Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.
Maintains a quality assurance program according to regulations established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.
May be required to train / precept students and new techs.
Operates a variety of complex stationary diagnostic equipment.
Orders, prepares, administers, and disposes radiopharmaceuticals and/or agents according to established protocols.
Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:
Complete understanding of Nuclear Medicine methodology, equipment and radiopharmaceuticals is necessary.
Graduate of a JRCERT accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); Or, ARRT Registered Technologist, R.T.(N)in goodstanding; Or, eligible to take the Nuclear Medicine registration exam.
BLS Healthcare Provider CPR required.
State Licensure (CNMT) is required.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles, hazardous materials management and infection control guidelines.
- Must have previous experience as a nuclear medicine technologist in a hospital environment.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
