Sutter Health Registered Nurse - Cath Lab Holding Area in Sacramento, California

Position Overview:

The Heart Cath Holding Area RN has primary accountability for patient outcomes.


Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required. California RN Licensure is also required.

Experience: Recent Critical Care experience is preferred, or demonstrated strong clinical background in Telemetry nursing required. Experience in handling cardiac emergencies is required.

Knowledge: Broad based knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy and pathophysiology, disease processes, IV and oral cardiac medications, and current treatment modalities required. Proficiency in ECG interpretation, arrhythmia treatment, and emergency procedures is required, as well as ability to demonstrate resourcefulness in problem-solving.

Special Skills/Equipment:

  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Completion of hospital orientation to include basic math skills, basic computer skills, knowledge of community

  • resources, legal policies relating to patient decisions and outcomes, knowledge of the performance standards of other nursing team members, and demonstrated skills in delegation, leadership and team management concepts.

  • Demonstrated IV therapy skills.

  • Completion of department specific orientation.
