Sutter Health Anesthesia Technician I - Surgery Center in San Jose, California
Responsible for the set up and calibration of anesthesia equipment and supplies, preparation of IV infusions and operation of all common physiologic monitors. Functions as a member of the Perioperative team, providing support to all members of the patient care team. Maintains aseptic environment within the OR and PACU. Responsible for securing of necessary equipment, instruments and supplies for perioperative procedures.
Stocks and maintains all anesthesia equipment including ventilators, intubation scopes, laryngoscopes, and physiologic monitors.
Anticipates needs and responds to events related to intubation and airway management.
Performs technical aspects of care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent manner.
Assists with preparation of anesthesia set-up including IV’s machine checks and supplies.
Performs efficiently and effectively during emergency situation.
Follows the commitment to excellence and treats patients, families, visitors and each other with courtesy, dignity, respect and professionalism.
Provides developmentally appropriate care to support patients during surgical visit.
Demonstrates competency in maintaining a safe, aseptic environment within the OR, PACU, Pre op area.
REQUIRED: high school diploma or equivalent; Current CPR certification.
At least two of the following:
Sterile Processing Technician experience
1 year operating room experience
Experience in related healthcare environment
Anesthesia Technician Certification
Basic knowledge of aseptic technique.
Knowledge of computerized Operating room scheduling system
Knowledge of Anesthesia machine, OR Tables and difficult intubation scopes and light sources.
Verbal and written communication skills for frequent and challenging contact with physicians, employees, patients and patient families; requires patience, tack and compassion.
Basic computer skills to include keyboarding, mouse movement and data entry skills to enter information into practice management and EHR.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks
Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner
Ability to lift and position patients properly using best practices
Visual capabilities to observe patients and instruments
Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
Applies moderate mental application and concentration to handle varying procedures and interruptions.
