This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Santa Monica, California region.
Your responsibilities in this role
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Requirements - Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Proficiency in Financial Projections
Month end closings experience desired
Consolidated Financial Statements experience
Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
CPA/MBA preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
