Mental Health Technician (Patient Transporter) Opportunity:

This position is for a full-time, Mental Health Technician Transporter for our mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities.

Shift: 12pm-8pm Monday through Thursday

Coastal Harbor Health System is comprised of a 114-bed hospital for children and adolescents, providing both short- and long-term inpatient care, and a 50 bed inpatient hospital serving men and women, ages 18 and up. We offer compassionate patient care to those who need it the most, serving not only local patients, but also those located across the country. Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Patient Transporter:

  • Partners with members of the Discharge team to schedule patient transports on day of discharge.

  • Assits the Wellness Coordinator in transporting patients to and whole patient appointments (Residential Inpatients}.

    Mental Health Technician:

  • Contributes to the effective implementation of individual treatment plans of clients through "line of sight" supervision, positive interaction and role modeling, appropriate recording of observed behaviors, and appropriate consequences or limit setting based on behaviors and program definition

  • Maintains safety and security of the facility through close observation and monitoring of the clients, maintaining optimal physical proximity, remaining alert at all times, and using analytical forethought to anticipate potentially volatile or unsafe situations and proactively intervene.

  • Promotes development of clients' daily living skills through appropriate assignment, instruction, and supervision of tasks.

  • Stimulates clients' interest and cooperation in various individual and group activities and programs through positive interaction, instruction, supervision, feedback and encouragement.

  • Completes accurate and timely documentation on client's behavior as outlined by policy, reports observations to relevant staff and makes recommendations based on observations. Assists in preparation of other behavioral reports and daily activities log as required.

  • Develops counseling skill methods and techniques under the supervision of program treatment professionals to facilitate psycho-educational groups, i.e. life skill groups and current event groups. Provides one-to-one contact with clients focusing on social development.

  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, reporting any known or suspected violations to his/her supervisor or through other means identified in company policy.

  • Consistently meets facility and regulatory training requirements by attending all mandatory meetings and staff training sessions as required.

  • Acts as a role model in using appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.

  • Perform other duties related to the department as necessity dictates.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements

    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s Degree in mental health related field, strongly preferred. Strong understanding of child/adult mental and behavioral health.

    1 year of experience strongly preferred.

    Patient transport must have a clean, Valid Driving Record.
