As a Utilities Manager you will LEAD by……….

  • Providing engineering, technical support and leadership to the Seneca Site Wastewater and Utilities operation.

  • Providing direction of technical operations and activities of your assigned department and support other departments on utilities, tank farm, and wastewater projects.

  • Developing and updating operational instructions, lead troubleshooting efforts, interact with BASF EH&S, R&D, and other technical personnel.

  • Having responsibility for process improvements, monitoring, and improving environmental compliance, supporting introduction of new product waste streams, cost of operations, safety and optimization of site utilities and waste handling activities.

  • Achieving service provision, production support, and environmental compliance goals while meeting established standards of Safety, Efficiency Quality and Cost.

  • Managing the assigned Area with Safety as a value and lead the Area EHS improvement initiatives while demonstrating safety leadership, driving engagement though Seneca’s Behavioral Safety process, and employing tools provided by BASF’s Journey to EHS Excellence. You will also interact with authorities, OJRSA and DHEC, for compliance and best practices.

  • Leading all engineering activities for the department and maintain an atmosphere of inclusion and mutual respect among all employees and supervision in the assigned area and across the site.

  • Assuming responsibility to ensure that all regulatory sampling, reporting, and monitoring requirements are performed as it pertains to the site’s wastewater, storm water, and air permits.

  • Leading continuous improvement activities using all CI tools in the Wastewater Treatment, Utilities Operations, Waste Handling, and Tank Farm Operations to lower costs. You will also assist Operations, Process and Project Engineers with all facets of waste treatment for new product introduction and product development work.

  • Ensuring maintenance activities are coordinated so that priorities and schedules can be set, and equipment is repaired with a minimum of down time. You will also manage department within established cost guidelines.

  • Leading the site cost reduction activities for waste removal and collaborate with procurement in all negotiations with waste receiver and waste hauler vendors, as well as be responsible for providing all area costing information for monthly budget meetings with controlling, participate in annual budgeting process.

  • Performing Project implementation including safety upgrades as required and ensure environmental compliance of the site via monitoring all discharges, optimizing process chemistry, exploring new treatment methods, decreasing need for off-site shipment, and reporting current discharge performance.

  • Leading 24x7 operations of the department by communicating and interacting effectively with the sites production areas to ensure effective and efficient area service and support, interact with Operations Management and Technical/Engineering support groups, as well as ensure effective training of the Area personnel.

  • Maintaining complete up-to-date equipment files, P&ID’s, data sheets, operating instructions.

  • Monitoring equipment and daily treatment data to ensure that standard operating procedures are being followed, as well as keep abreast of technical matters affecting production operations and products by literature, seminars, courses, etc.

  • Being responsible for performing and leading all PHA’s and Safety Reviews, assume ownership of the Stature EH&S database for tracking completion of corrective actions and action items.

Your elements for success……

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years’ experience in Industrial plant operations, Chemical plant operations, or Wastewater experience in a technical role.

  • Knowledge in technical EHS compliance with OSHA guidelines and local regulations.

  • Previous supervisory/team leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of and experience with regulatory requirements to include sampling, reporting, and monitoring of wastewater, storm water, and air permit specifications.

  • Experience with RCRA waste handling standards, records management, and shipments, with robust knowledge of general shipping manifest, bill of lading, and certificate of analyses.

  • Experience with optimization and reliability of treatment processes and equipment.

  • Experience with Process Safety Management and project implementation including safety upgrades.

  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, and strong business acumen.

  • Exceptional project execution combined with experience in maintenance and reliability.

  • Experience with drafting operating procedures

  • Result orientation with attention to detail

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $95,000-$125,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
