This Position is in person in Spokane, WA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides comprehensive, accessible, home-based and center-based health services to families enrolled in Akin's Early Head Start or Head Start program. Provides services that promote the enrolled children's physical, emotional, and social development and promote family health practices that enhance lifelong well-being and prevent illness and injury. Delivers services in a family-centered, culturally-appropriate manner.  Will oversee the development and implementation of a health component for Early Head Start, Head Start and/or ECEAP(health, nutrition and safety plans and services, including monitoring, employee training and evaluation) that will meet or exceed Head Start and ECEAP Performance Standards as well as state child care licensing requirements. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides health referrals and facilitates access to health services for families, including primary care, dental services, nutrition, family planning, maternity or childbirth education
  • Works as member of the interdisciplinary Resource Team to assist in the development of a Family Goals, which will identify family strengths, needs and goals
  • Supports and ensures the completion of health screenings and well-child exams for all enrolled children
  • Works with health care providers to complete a classroom health care plan for children with a disclosed diagnosis or chronic condition
  • Develops educational materials and participate in education events for parents and employee
  • Participates in meetings including Health Services Advisory Committee, team reviews, and other agency meetings where appropriate
  • Assists in monitoring compliance with Head Start, ECEAP or state licensing health and safety standards
  • Regularly consults with a Registered Nurse, Nutritionist or Dietician
  • Utilizes the ChildPlus System to enter or retrieve client information
  • Assists with data collection, aggregation, analysis and reporting for overall program
  • Other duties as assigned

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong teaching, engagement and reflection skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Office 365 and working with databases
  • Attention to detail for data entry software, such as Child Plus
