Professional Land Surveyor Roles & Responsibilities
Report to Survey Group manager daily and coordinate with all members of the project team, including Jewell staff, clients, and local review agencies
Meet and assist engineering and architectural staff on survey needs to support their projects.
Research existing conditions, organize data collection, write descriptions and prepare CADD drawings in Civil 3D for a wide range of survey documents such as: boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, right of way plats, transportation project plats, subdivision plats, certified survey maps, floodplain elevation certificates and design surveys
Conduct land records research for your projects
Assure finished surveys are filed or recorded as necessary with the appropriate register of deeds
Assist clients with approval of surveys with local and state agencies when appropriate
Attend public meetings presenting the survey work for comment and approval
Supervision of survey technicians collecting data for surveys in the field and appropriate monumentation
Supervision of construction staking
Assist in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates
Quality control review of work prepared by others
Organize project records, update timesheets daily, provide billing instructions for accounting staff
DOT, transportation, and some municipal survey work.
Projects will be in the disciplines of Transportation, Municipal, Development, and Architecture. This person will perform data collection, data processing, preparation of right of way plats and transportation project plats, construction staking and proper documentation.
-Collecting field data for boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, right of way plats, Transportation Project plats, subdivision plats, certified survey maps and design survey information
-Operating Total Station, Level, GPS Receiver, Robotics

- utilize CAD back in the office to draft up plans after they come back from the field
. We are looking for a registered surveyor to efficiently and effectively collaborate with our design staff on transportation, municipal, development and architectural projects. This person will conduct land records research in addition to collect, compute and process field data for the following: boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, right of way plats, transportation project plats, subdivision plats, certified survey maps and design survey information. Supervision of construction staking and proper monumentation is also a function of this position. This person will assist in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.

The ideal candidate will keep clear and concise project records and files, while demonstrating the ability to work independently and within a team of professionals. This position will require a professional who takes initiative, is self-motivated and has a desire to be challenged.
Development of DOT Right of Way Plats and TPPs taking the field information through plats and descriptions and preparing staking information for field crews.
Other duties will include development of CSM’s, Subdivision Plats, Plats of Survey, ALTA Surveys.
Responsibilities include the research, directing field crews for projects this person would be working on, calculations, CADD, preparation of descriptions, QA of other PLS work all with the goal of highly accurate, professional product for our clients.
Coordinating with other professionals during project design.
Provide marketing support by providing technical information and estimates of cost for the survey work for targeted projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Civil Engineering Technology Associates Degree or equivalent preferred
Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to company insurer
AutoCAD proficiency, knowledge of Civil 3D a plus
Proficiency in operating Total Station, Level, GPS Receiver and Robotics including data collection
Familiarity with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Facility Development Manual
Strong communication skills
Desire to produce a quality product, detail-oriented
