Regions Hospital Analyst, Emergency Coding and Education in St. Paul, Minnesota

Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN is looking for a detailed oriented Coding Analyst I to join our Emergency Department team and make a difference for our patients and our community. The coding analyst I is responsible for analyzing emergency department patient visit/chart and assigning accurate ICD diagnoses and CPT coding for visits and procedures. Analyst will audit coding to ensure accuracy. The analyst also provides support to providers and clinical staff for CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9-CM, and ICD-10-CM education around coding, billing/revenue recognition, and compliance. Analyst I position will work with EM Coding and Education Analyst II to resolve claim edits and coding denials. Performs other duties as assigned. Our Emergency Department (ED) is comprised of 50,000 square feet of clinical space with 55 treatment rooms. An additional 8,000 square feet houses the resident room, library, conference space and administrative offices. It also includes private rooms, in-department radiology suite, discharge pharmacy, waiting room and triage area, employee lounge and locker room, and five care areas (pods), including an 11-bed care pod for our crisis/behavioral health patients. It is designed to treat patients in acuity-based care pods. You will find yourself in a fast-paced environment with over 90,000 ED visits per year. Join our team and make good happen! Work schedule: Flexible, 40 hours a week between Sunday, 5 AM to Saturday, 11 PM. Required Qualifications: Graduation from an associate degree program in health information or completion of a coding specialist program and eligible for certification, accreditation, or registration by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and/or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Knowledge of anatomy/physiology, basic disease processes, medical terminology, entry-level computer functions and ability to type. Two (2) years' experience in ICD-9/ ICD-10/CPT coding Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technologists (RHIT) certification; other coding certifications from AHIMA or AAPC may be considered in place of the CPC, CCS and RHIT certifications.
