Sutter Health RN II - Family Birth Center - Labor & Delivery in Vallejo, California

Position Overview:

Serving the residents of southern Solano County, including the communities of Vallejo, Benicia and American Canyon, Sutter Solano Medical Center offers 111 licensed beds and delivers a wide range of technologically advanced inpatient and outpatient services. These include 24-hour emergency services, critical and transitional care, surgery, diagnostic imaging, cardiac, obstetrics and physical, occupational and speech therapy. The recent renovation of its Family Birthing Center and new Implant Program to Treat Prostate Cancer are examples of Sutter Solano's dedication to serving growing community needs.


Coordinates total nursing care for patients. Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. These dimensions incorporate the competencies defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice. Ability to work during weekdays, weekends, holidays, and various shift hours.

Education/ Knowledge, including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration

  • Registered Nurse licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing.Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • Current BLS required.

  • Current ACLS required.

  • Current NRP required.

  • Current (within the last 2 years) Advanced Fetal Monitoring required.


Previous work experience as a Labor & Delivery/Birthing Center RN in an acute care hospital preferred. Lactation support/consultation experience highly desired. Scrubbing for cesarean section (C-section) is highly desired.


Independently practices and prioritizes multiple demands in an ever changing environment. Good interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) and teamwork skills are required.
