Defense Commissary Agency Food Service Worker in Wiesbaden, Germany

Summary About the Position: This position is located in Wiesbaden, Germany. Wiesbaden is without a doubt one of the most attractive cities in Germany. The capital city of Hessen is sometimes referred to as "Nice of the North"and rightfully so considering the many mansions, the historic Kurhaus, the casino and the State Theater. Responsibilities You will serve as a delicatessen/bakery assistant. Help in the preparation, presentation and serving of specialty meats, delicacies, preserved foods, cheeses, salads, breads and sweets to patrons. Answer customer questions about specialty foods. Using prepared ingredients, you will make hot and/or cold sandwiches, fruit and vegetable trays, salads and rotisserie chicken. Responsible for cleaning counters and trays, washing dishes and maintaining cleanliness in preparation, work and display areas. Inspect and clean equipment as required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Food Service Worker tasks including taking customer food orders; dependable with speed and quality of work; have a satisfactory safety record; keep things neat, clean and in order. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices Physical Effort: Work requires light to moderate physical effort. Workers are subject to continuous walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. Frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds; lift heavier items with assistance. Working Conditions: The work is normally performed in deli or bakery area where some temperatures may be uncomfortable. Areas are well lighted, but there may be dangers of slipping on floors, exposure to hot surfaces and liquids, sharp cutting utensils, and extreme temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators or frozen food units. Education Additional Information This is a Career Program (CP) 13 - Supply Management position. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250. For positions in a foreign country, that country's laws or international agreements may have a direct impact on the ability of an employee's same sex domestic partner or spouse to accompany the employee and receive certain benefits. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. U.S. citizen family members may be considered for Foreign National positions in the absence of qualified Foreign National employees. When a Foreign National (FN) position cannot be filled from within the current FN workforce, family member resumes will be screened to identify qualified family member applicants for the position. These applicants will be referred for consideration after military spouse preference and family member preference eligibles have been referred. Both U.S. citizen family members and non-U.S. citizen family members will receive equal consideration for available positions. Family members appointed to FN positions will be subject to displacement by FN employees who have rights to the position under Reduction in Force procedures.
